FAQ

Eight honest answers.

  • Do I need to speak Swedish?

No, but basic English helps. Most Swedish industrial sites operate in English for technical communication. Some employers offer free language courses.

  • What about taxes — where do I pay?

You stay registered as self-employed in your home country (živnosť / OSVČ). We register you for Swedish F-skatt for invoicing Swedish clients. You file taxes annually in your home country. No double taxation thanks to A1 certificate.

  • How long are the contracts?

Standard 3 or 6 months, with renewal options. Many contractors stay 1–2+ years on longer projects.

  • Where do I sleep in Sweden?

Most clients provide free accommodation (shared apartment with other contractors, or hotel for short projects). Some pay accommodation allowance instead. This is negotiated upfront.

  • What if the project ends earlier than expected?

Force majeure clauses are in your contract. If client cancels, you receive 30-day notice. We help match you with the next project.

  • Can I bring my family?

For short-term projects (3–6 months), most contractors travel solo and visit family every 4–6 weeks (employer pays travel). For long-term placements (1+ year), bringing family is possible but less common.

  • What about insurance?

We organize professional liability insurance covered by the engagement. For health, you use European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) initially, plus we recommend supplemental travel insurance.

  • What's the catch — why so few people know about this?

No catch. Sweden has a chronic welder shortage (Skills Shortage Index: extreme). Swedish industry is willing to pay premium rates, but the bureaucratic complexity (F-skatt, A1, ID06, posting) deters most contractors. We solve that complexity.
